There are full-time, part-time, and PRN positions in each of our four divisions. Job applicants must possess a high school diploma/GED and a valid driver’s license. A background check and drug test may be required. The Irene Wortham Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.

Hours

The Human Resources and Administrative Offices are open 8:00-4:30, Mon-Fri. The hours for our Adult Day Activity Center are 9:00-5:00. The Early Learning Center is open from 7:00 AM-6:00 PM year-round, except on scheduled Buncombe County School holidays and teacher work days. Our residential homes are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year and have 3 shifts. Supported Employment coaches and employees work on a schedule that fits with that of the various employers.

Job Description

Assists teacher with lessons and planned activities for children with and without disabilities in a day care setting. Carries out daily activities as outlined in teacher plans. Implements IEP/IFSP programs according to teacher-prescribed methods. Documents student progress accurately. Provides direct care and may administer medications. Ages infant – 5 years old.

Job Description

Creates lesson plans/activities, prepares daily/weekly schedules, designs room arrangements and learning centers for children ages 3-5 in our 5-star rated child care center. Implements and reinforces behavior management strategies, prepares necessary educational materials, supervises children, and helps direct activities of teaching assistants, volunteers, foster grandparents, etc. Works with both special needs and typically developing children on a daily basis.

 

Supported Employment and Community Networking

The Job Coach is responsible for the direct training and supervision of selected clients who are being placed in community jobs.  The duties include, but are not limited to, screening and assessment, job development, and actual training at various job sites in the community.  Quality programming and service delivery are a primary responsibility to ensure maximum vocational opportunities for growth for all Work Force clients.
